Wall Street and banks regulating themselves, govt. corruption, unemployment etc - all symptoms of an ailing system. Congress is for sale, the senate is for sale, supreme court is for sale and of course: president mouthpiece is for sale. <br /><br />I like your call for a third party to step up although in my view it would actually be, in practice, a second party. I, along with many others, believe the 2 party system is a myth. Anytime Pavlov rings his money bell both drooling parties align themselves with astonishing quickness. <br /><br />It's becoming more and more obvious to a growing number of humans that our resources are not being utilized efficiently and in fact are being flushed down the toilet. We live in an age of tremendous abundance and contradiction. War is obsolete, unnecessary, inhumane, astronomically wasteful, pointless, reprehensible and criminal. Yet it persists, grows and claims an enormous piece of the pie. War never waits in line and answers to no one. President mouthpiece has committed the USA towards purchasing nuclear weaponry for the next 3 decades. This same system wants to force healthcare on me? Now THAT is ludicrous. How can this happen? It is the system. It is profoundly flawed. How will it be corrected? When enough people demand it for a long enough period of time. And when they start voting with their dollar - when enough people start becoming aware of what is actually going on behind closed doors - when enough people start waking up to the true potential of the human race. That is what is starting to happen now, I hope. Call me an optimist :) <br /><br />Wall Street makes an obvious target and is receiving the brunt of the blame right now but don't they deserve criticism? They got bailed out and immediately cashed in - a public relations disaster which could have easily been avoided. But their hubris and sense of entitlement has led to a verdict of guilty in the court of public opinion. <br /><br />In conclusion, I feel the occupy movement is not only condemning Wall Street they are condemning the system. This is a world wide phenomenon and it is gaining momentum every day. He had brought his blind brother Sean with him. The second surprise was that time had caught up with Tim and punched him in the mouth - his top front 4 or 5 teeth had been broken in half and they appeared pointy, grimy and yellow. His hair was grey and skin mottled. He greeted me with the cherry warmth of a late morning buzz. 'Your bald' he laughed as he danced up to me quickly for a brotherly hug. I caught the smell of beer and smoke underneath a thin veneer of Scope mouthwash. The third surprise was that Tim had shown up at all. I had been in NYC for 20 days or so and Tim had already promised to make the 1 hour bus ride from Easton several times without appearing or letting me know that he was not. <br /><br />Because the lobby is closed due to remodeling, I lead Tim and Sean through the electrician's basement door entrance. The plan had been for me to introduce Tim to my cousin Amy - who had been kind enough to let me stay in her Manhattan apartment for a month while she explored Australia. Suddenly, I find myself in a quandary, do I want to bring drunk, obnoxious, unpredictable Tim into the apartment? The timing can't be worse, Amy has just returned from her month long Aussie adventure and I feel a deep responsibility to honoring the sanctity of her home. The momentum of my previously formulated plan of having Tim meet Amy propels me past the make shift doorman's desk. I say: 'Hello' and he says 'hello' back. Sean is on my elbow and Tim sidles behind us about 15 feet. I half expect the doorman to stop him and he almost does but I give him a look so he remains silent. We get to the elevators and are about to get in but a woman with a double stroller - filled with two kids - gets on board in front of us. I haven't seen Tim for 14 years or so. The shock of his appearance, demeanor and tipsiness all lead me to make the quick decision to take the stairs. Its only 11 flights so I figure it won't be a problem.<br /><br />I wait about a minute and Tim and Sean make it to the 11th floor. I feel a twinge of guilt because they are both looking a little pasty and they are both having trouble breathing thru their smoke damaged lungs. Tim is kind of incredulous and unable to comprehend why I did not want us to take the elevator. Sean looks like he's going to pass out and says something like: 'wow, I'm really out of shape. I gotta start doing something to get fit.'<br /><br />I open the door to the apartment and they both stumble in looking like they have just run a marathon hungover. At my urging they take off their boots and then collapse onto the couch like a pile of dirt laundry. Tim continues his litany of insults directed at me in deliberately obtuse ways that fall off me like rain on a roof - I am impervious. He cannot believe I made them walk up the steps and is seething. I don't say anything but I am shocked: they are massively under exercised. Suddenly, Sean pops up from the couch - 'Where's the bathroom?' he queries. I point in the direction and off he goes (he's legally blind but can still see enough to not crash into any walls). I can hear him retching into the throne and make a note to give it a good cleaning. <br /><br />Sean soon makes his way back to the couch and that is when Tim angrily starts demanding 900 dollars from me. I am like ha ha, that's funny ha, ha. Tim's like: "I am not joking. You think Sean and I came here to see you? To see your stupid play? Then he's demanding: I want my money Byrne. You owe me 900 dollars." Now this isn't funny anymore.<br /><br />"Knock it off Tim. I don't owe you a penny." I say this sternly. Tim appears to sincerely believe that I owe him money. One of the things he's always complained about was all this money that all these people owe him. AJ owes him, Denis owes him, Klein owes him... Somehow, he seems to have deluded himself that even I now owe him. He keeps going on and on until he says:<br /><br />'I brought heat.' And then he's digging into his dingy little square black and gray duffel bag. Then he cackles and gives me a pointy broken teeth smile and says: "Just kidding, Byrne." He then sighs contentedly and lovingly pulls out a 16 ounce can of Budweiser. <br /><br />I then can't help but smell the tobacco that must follow them everywhere. The apartment now smells like Marlboro Cigarettes. Their clothes emit smoke. I am horrified. What will cousin Amy think?<br /><br />"No." I say before Tim can open the beer. "No way you are drinking beer in here." Tim looks at me like he's about to cry. Sean sits there silently taking it all in. Tim protests but I am firm and unyielding.<br /><br />At this point, I have had enough. Amy is due any minute to meet us here at her apartment to hang out. Frankly, I am now not just embarrassed, I am worried. Tim's alcoholism has not only added 15 years to his appearance, it has also addled his brain. I have no idea what he is capable of and make the decision to hustle him and Sean out of there before he can inflict his chaotic demeanor onto my cousin. Before we leave, I crack the window, the rushing air whistles in and 'hope it gets rid of the toxic smoke' I think.<br /><br />We board the empty elevator and drop down to the basement level. I lead them into Central Park. The roads are pretty clear but there is a lot of snow every where else. All I brought to NYC, were my shiny black Air Jordan's, to wear in on my feet. So I am jumping over various slushy puddles and trying not to climb over any of the 3 foot high snow banks. We walk along the road that winds thru the West side of the park looking for a bench to sit on so Tim can finally start sucking on his 16 ounce can of Budweiser. We end up having to walk the equivalent of 10 blocks or so before we find a bench that doesn't have 4 feet of snow piled up on it. The whole way, Tim seems to be going thru serious withdrawal, he's whining and complaining that he's been waiting and waiting to drink some more beer. He cannot believe I made them walk up 11 flights of stairs. At this point its almost 4 o'clock and so its almost 4 hours that Tim has gone without a beer.<br /><br />We finally find some benches. Tim cracks open a beer and a smile as he is finally able to begin fulfilling his purpose in life: drinking beer. Sean pulls out a Cherry Coke, takes a couple sips and then pulls out a syringe and doses himself with insulin. Tim decides to throw a snowball at me. I retaliate for the next 15 minutes. Before I am done, Tim is covered with snow, on his face, neck, inside and outside his coat. His cigarette and cell phone are covered with snow as well. Finally, I am laughing. <br /><br />Tim and Sean get up, they both look a little better. They head towards the subway, off to meet up with Denis at Max Fish. He says: "Good to see you again, Byrne. you look good. You look the same."<br /><br />"Thanks Tim. Good to see you." I start jogging back the way we just came and toss "See you tonight", over my shoulder. I hope not - I think to myself. Who knows what condition he will be in after another 6-pack or two. <br /><br />I call up my cousin, there's still time to get to the apartment and meet with her. She's been in Australia for a month. I haven't seen her for several years. This daily routine had been a staple in his life for 10 years. The practical experiment had been effortless. It had not mattered where he lived, where he was or where he was traveling. There were times when he was driving across America. People would stare curiously at him as he moved thru the yoga movements and as he slowly passed thru the tantalizing martial arts dance that is tai-chi at random rest stops. He did these exercises for so long that it became easy to take their benefits for granted. The will power and discipline that were necessary to achieve such dedication day in and day out was invisible to him because he just did the work - every day. But at some point after that decade/11 year faze of apparent invincibility, his resolve began to falter and his drive transformed into drivel. The impact of his dedication never completely disappeared but his core strength became a shadow of what it had once been. His sense of well-being fell away like leaves on a maple tree in winter. The bare branches remained though and with them the potential to once again grow the living green solar panels designed to drink in the sun light.<br /><br />Some how, some way, 12 days ago, the resolve returned. The drive to practice both the 5 Tibetans and tai-chi together returned. There is no fan fare. No glaring light of the media spot light blinding his eyes. No, all that happens is he does these exercises and his mind clears and he feels good to be alive. The world makes sense to him. There is no press conference. There is no interviews for ESPN or Sports Illustrated. CNN is not covering this. Fox News is not filling its broadcasts with their hate/fear mongering commentary about his doing exercises which do not originate in America. Exercises that predate Christianity.<br /> <br />No. All that's happening here is some one has rediscovered their own little pathway of bliss. So go on now. Move along. Even though I am now back in the present everything seems uncertain. Thinking about traveling back in time is one thing but actually doing it is utterly and ultimately cosmologically confusing. It is suddenly dawning on me that the crop circle book that Asariel gave me was something more, The tai chi and didjeridoo playing make a lot more sense now. Even though I only traveled back a month it was still earth shattering, believe me. I’ve had 2 weeks to digest my experience and I still get shutters just thinking about it. Where is that crazy holographic dolphin? I have not seen him since he showed me the book. I’ve been a mess let me tell you… I knew I had to ground myself and so instead of drinking a case a beer or a couple bottles of wine, I have been doing a lot of tai chi and didge playing. It seems to have done the trick because my sense of well being has returned and I am able to sleep soundly at night. When I first got back to this time, it was like 3 days before I can sleep. And just for kinks I snagged this gigantic picture book of Buddhas. It’s really cool, there’s a black medicine Buddha and a red one. Basically there’s a Buddha for every occasion. So I am like just randomly paging thru these books, letting my mind go blank and leaving them open around the house. One of them was my relationship to time. Its hard to explain but I shall try. I am learning that my experience of time can slow down greatly. It seems as though I can experience seconds as if they were minutes. Several times in the last 20 minutes, I have caught myself daydreaming. These daydreams are like nothing I have ever experience before and I am afraid that I am misleading you by calling them ‘daydreams’. OK, so… this is what has been happening. At some point, I stop what ever it is I am doing. My awareness kind of just dissipates and that is when these images of circuit diagrams/abstract art/aerial photographs seem to be beamed/poured/materialized/experienced/downloaded into my consciousness. It is so frigging weird… they seem to start out like 10 a second and then accelerate to speeds that I am unable to even guess at – maybe a million a second. When I become entranced by one of the circuit diagrams (or what ever you want to call them) – that is when I focus on one of them – then the download stops and I find myself back in the part of my brain that I am used to. Asariel made it sound like I’d need to start playing the didjeridoo for a while before this kind of thing would happen. Instead, its like the X frigging files in my head. WTF! I’ve only been playing that crazy instrument for a month or so and now this stuff is happening. Well, I hope I am not complaining too much or anything because this whole experience in general is infinitely fascinating. Ohh it just occurred to me that maybe by playing the didj, it will allow me access to the various software packages that Asariel has planted across the two continents of my brain like Johnny frigging Apple Seed. Wow, this is kind of nuts, what have I got my self into? <br /> So in case any of you are seeing this little dolphin flying around your apartment or whatever, you might think twice before you let it swim around inside you. Part of me still held on to the possibility - as a kind of last-ditch effort to hold on to the remnants of my already stretched-to-the-max-sanity as if it were a balloon that could burst any second. Any way, I am now calling it the entity most of the time. Sometimes I call it my guardian angel. Other times I am calling it my spirit animal. What ever the case, its nice to have around. The only thing is, it seems to be trying to increase my intelligence. It has been teaching me things. One of them, that is quite interesting, is how to play the didjeridoo. The didjeridoo, it turns out, is the oldest wind instrument known to mankind. To begin to experience the mind altering, consciousness-shifting possibilities of this musical instrument/meditation device one must learn to circular breathe according to the entity, which appears to be a dolphin. <br /> So when the dolphin began teaching me how to circular breathe, I was like “Why are you teaching me this stuff?” His answer, quite startled me and that is when I began to think it was something more than AI. Maybe that’s how it started out, but at some point it became something more, way more. It told me that it was teaching me so that it could communicate at much greater speeds and with much greater complexity. It said it was increasing my intelligence. You see, it’s kind of like a way for my cells to become more insulated and become more capable of handling higher voltages of electricity – so to speak.<br /> At some point, I am like do you have a name? He’s very proud of the design and has even temporarily tinted his skin crystal ocean blue to enhance the experience. I stare in amazement into the depths of his skin watching as the dolphin gets smaller and smaller as it dives deeper and deeper in spirals. I can even see bubbles leaving its blowhole. Suddenly it changes direction and starts to accelerate towards the surface of his skin. Johnny had removed his shirt because that is where his dolphin tattoo tends to swim. I watch engrossed as it appears to be shooting straight up and towards me from the center of his heart chakra. Johnny is not saying anything as his head bends down watching his tat proudly like it was his trained pet or something. Suddenly it reaches the surface and leaps thru his skin and continues to swim thru the air bridging the 4 feet between us and then straight thru my forehead just where my third eye is supposed to be. Johnny’s contented smile disappears faster than the speed of gravity and says: Hey! WTF! Give it back!<br /><br />I don’t say anything because I am reliving my oceanic experience of being a dolphin for 30 days while simultaneously still experiencing my bipedal reality. Finally, I say: what’s it doing?<br /><br />Johnny: I don’t know your forehead is too murky… ahh… I mean opaque- what’s happening? The hairs are standing up on his neck and his stomach is twisting with fear. He moves forward and pretends to be picking up something amongst the sand. I immediately catch a wave and ride it in without even bothering to stand up on it. My focus is completely on Tweaky the clown. He moves a little ways away from my surf bag which happened to have my cell phone and wallet in an inside pocket. Within seconds I elegantly land on the shore and begin marching up to my bag with my board tucked under my arm. Power and purpose course thru my veins as I approach the skinny thief. I smile and say: Hi. <br /><br />Tweaky just stares at me and then says coldly: What do you want?<br /><br />Me {smiling warmly}: Oh, sometimes I just get the urge to say hi to people and as how they are doing. So how are you doing today?<br /><br />Tweaky hesitates and cracks a smile revealing black jagged teeth but his eyes remain cold and dead as a corpse’s and then says: Just fine.<br /><br />I wait a beat, forgiving his transgression that cut my surf sesh short; then feeling compassion for this lost soul preying on surfers and beach goers, I dismiss him and begin my trek along the sand still buzzing from my sonic encounter with the black dolphin and the month of being one. Pieces come back to me, mostly incomprehensible; I never realize how differently they experienced both time and reality. I seem to lack the memory/personal power to fully integrate my oceanic experience. Even though it is fresh, part of me starts to doubt my senses. I wonder if what is happening now is real. Shaped by Mike Hynson, this one stretches to 5-11 and is 2.5 inches thick. There are not any other surfers around but there are waves. They jack up and provide the perfect challenge for me on what at the time was a relatively new board – the shortest I’d surfed on – and the most challenging. Minutes after paddling to the outside I notice a black dolphin, on its own, swimming further out – maybe 60 feet away. Returning my focus to the task at hand, I noticed a set coming through and quickly positioned myself. The shorter board had been challenging me to perfect the art of surfing. Progression one day regression the next day; it was kind of like the stock market for me out there. Today would be different and I am not sure why, maybe it was because I had been fasting so much, wasn’t getting tired, was so easy to pop up. On that day, I was feeling good, magically deliciously good and that is when the right wave at the right time rolled in, jacked up as I paddled and kicked like crazy for it and then popped up as it went vertical and then free fell onto my board landing perfectly. The joy in my heart exploded and simultaneously the black dolphin called into my heart a message a tone a song and the history of the world compressed into a fraction of a second. In order to hear it I had to stop time – hit the pause button – stepping into my smooth skinned friends skin for what felt like days and then I am back in my human form making the turn and riding the wave for 50 feet or so having temporarily forgotten that I had just lived as a dolphin for around 30 days or so. In order to play that memory, I needed a plug in, an application and some food. At one point I see a friendly young red curly-haired surfer paddling out towards me, that’s when I notice - just over his head 50 yards to shore on the beach – there is a shady looking character about to go through my surf bag. Everyone seems to take note and sure enough, in 5 minutes, we are all in the high-ceilinged studio. Markus sets up the microphone and PA and then splashes some colors up on a projection screen strategically hanging behind me. The sound check becomes the performance and I immediately start chanting om ah hum, om mani padme hum, om gati gati, para gati, para sumu gati, bohdisvaha. Next I sing Running to Stand Still thru the didge and then go into a shortened version of Road House Blues. Poly phonic dog barking, pressing my cheek for rhythms, overtoning harmonics, high pitched toning and then back to chanting… One continuous out breath for around 30 minutes. When I finish, I am pleasantly surprised by the warm and attentive reception by the small audience of vloggers. The first question is: How does the playing affect you? I answer the question in a very round about way: I feel clear, like my hemispheres are synchronized. You know, I find it quite interesting that the Aborigines, in general, discouraged women from playing the didge because they felt women held an advantage and the men playing it evened the playing field. The reason I find this interesting is because of the research that has been done on mirror neurons… Does anyone here know what mirror neurons are? {no answer} Well, mirror neurons are dedicated to discerning the emotional states of other humans through facial expressions and body language and then allowing the observer to feel what the other one is feeling – empathy. What they learned was that women use both temporal lobes while men tended to just use the left one. Women also used their white matter while men used their grey matter. Jason arrives into the scene with his typical air of intensity and tells me that there is a cat stuck up in the tree. He points up and after some time I am able to spot the small black cat. It seems to be resting. I notice that the ladder does not reach the first branch and that it is straddling the roots. Not a very stable situation I think to myself. Regardless, I climb to the top rung of the ladder and am able to reach the first branch which is over my head. The black cat begins to meow. It is hungry, thirsty and distraught. I call out to it: "Come here, c'mon, its alright..." after five or 10 minutes I decide to come back later on my own time with some cat food. Some salmon will do the trick I think.<br /><br />I finish work around 4, drive home and grab my climbing gear. When I return I see Bill. "Don't worry, I tell him, I'll get her down." I am armed with 2 cans of salmon and trout which Noah's Apothecary was nice enough to donate to the cause. I climb up the ladder wearing a climbing harness and dragging a 50m climbing rope. I also have some slack line to use initially as my anchor. Jon Benoit has volunteered to belay me. He is not wearing a harness and has the rope wrapped around his hands. I figure that the hungry cat will come right to me pulled by the smell of fish. After 5 or 10 minutes, the skinny black cat gets close enough to eat and it is ravenous. While up there it never stops meowing, except when it swallows the canned food. I keep trying to grab the cat but it is difficult because one hand is holding the can and one hand is holding on to a branch. I feel exposed and recognize my situation is precarious. Jon has never belayed before. I keep trying and manage to grab the nervous cat by the scruff of the neck but it immediately freaks out, tightens its skin and grabs the tree with all 4 clawed paws. Jon has been running out of time and so I finally call it a day after several more attempts. "Nice try." Jon says before returning to his winery duties. His coworkers breathe a sigh of relief as they get Jon back.<br /><br />Day 2<br />I return the next day after having slept on the fairly complex problem of how to get a feral starving cat out of a tall tree. This time around, there is a strong stocky cook to belay me. I make sure that he is wearing a climbing harness. I go over the fundamentals of belaying and soon am up in the tree with the meowing cat once again. The cat knows who I am having started meowing the second it heard my voice. So here I am again with the same problem of using one hand to hold the tree, one hand to hold the can up where the cat could just stretch down and eat. I am actually able to pet it this time and it reaches its body towards my hand like it is drinking up my energy. Every time I try to scoop it up though, it scampers away. Even climbing to higher branches at times. Finally, it is lured down by the fishy aroma once again, I grab it by the scruff again and it freaks out. I try to keep it away from the tree but it grabs it easily and pulls itself out of my hands and I am left with tufts of black fur in my hand. I freak out a bit myself saying "I don't think that cat once to be saved! How frustrating!"The cat was able to almost eat the whole can. It sits on a higher branch, well out of reach and licks its fur. I climb down thinking that I will have to try again tomorrow when it is hungry again. I climb down the ladder, grumbling and mumbling while the small audience offers up a spattering of applause, recognizing my efforts. <br /><br />Day 3<br />Once again I arrive at Casa with the little black cat on my mind. I have been trying to visualize getting her down but am just not able to see it. This time around, Laura has rented a 'have a heart' trap. There is a kind gentleman who has volunteered to belay me. It is Saturday around 430. Plenty of time for the cat to have gotten hungry enough to come near me. I climb up the ladder and call out to my little friend: "Hi, how are you doing? Nice to see you... are you hungry?" She meows and meows, she's tired, hungry and scared but happy to see me. She comes near me rather quickly and I am able to pet her easily. But every time I try to scoop her up, she scampers away. I try and try but every time I get her she uses her hind legs to dig into my forearms. She is a twisting ball of fur and claws and does not want to be held or picked up but she craves being pet. Finally, she tires of my attempts to grab her, hisses at me and scampers to a higher branch. Laura helps me navigate the trap up on to the tree and finally after a lot of coaching and support, I am able to position it onto the lowest branch with some of the canned salmon and trout food inside it. Laura tell me that she'll call me if the cat goes inside it. I drive home scratching my head, trying to figure out how I am going to get the cat down and also to get some sleep. The flu bug has bitten me hard and I will end up sleeping the next 14 hours.<br /><br />Day 4<br />Just spent 9 hours in school. This time I have a vision on how I am going to to do it. I need to grab the cat with both hands and let my belayer lower me and the cat to the ground. This is the only way its going to happen. During all my other attempts, I never knew how I was going to climb down with one hand and still manage to keep the cat from digging into the tree and escaping my grasp. Tony volunteers to belay me. He is lighthearted and confident. he cracks jokes and flirts with the girls. I climb up the ladder. I don't even have any food. I climb into the tree and can see that the cat had nothing to do with the food in the cage and it has spoiled anyway. The skinny, skinny, black cat meows and climbs down to greet me. It must now just associate me with food and it loves me to pet it. So we do our little dance. I keep scooping it up and it keeps escaping. I am near the trunk where there are two branches at the same height. I have noticed that the cat will jump from one branch to the other here. I position my body in between these branches and almost immediately, kitty cat puts her two front paws on my chest. I hold them there with my left hand and then scoop up the rear of her body with my right hand. She meows and I call out: "I got her! ok! lower me!" Part of me can't believe it. As we begin to lower, black cat (Persephone) kind of shudders and yowls I tell it: "I'm just as scared as you." We gently touchdown. I am a zillion miles away and I am so close I am you. Every breath has been shared by everyone. water is not the only solution. Air is a solution. The vacuum of space is a solution. The whole universe is a solute when it is stuck in the cornea of my eye. The cell has died for my constant inspection. I can see the nucleus which houses the rock band's recordings and distributes the musical anthem thru ribosomes. The currency is proteins imbedded in the cell wall. I can see the dendrites like telephone wires, like octopus tentacles, like Internet connections. The NSA wishes it had my ability to wire tap my own inner connections but instead it is left chasing its own tails, its own tales that wag its head, it nods to itself, its own reflection. The mirror cannot reflect the distant constellation that is dying in the corner of my eye. Hydrogen is perpetually unstable until it shares an electron with Oxygen and then it is at peace like Switzerland sharing its language with France and Germany. Iraq is perpetually unstable as its petroleum concentration is a constant salvation for a few and a constant downfall for the rest. It will not share electrons and they cannot be stolen and death has replaced Euros which have replace dollars. Everything is getting more expensive and we are all getting payed less. My vision thru a prison turns experience into colors, pictures, numbers and words which I compulsively try to relate to you, one of the few who have some how waded thru this nonsense. It seems more abstract than concrete because we can not see the forest for the trees. We got satellites and scientists and weather channels and psychic channels and we got politicians and prophets and they all got their agenda. The weather seems crazy, polar ice caps melting, mega twisters, tidal waves and what ever. Attribution of blame is not all that clear in reality. But, when you can find all these pharmaceutical drugs in the water than we know that we did it. It means that the EPA has completely failed to do the job entrusted by the American people. Somewhere along the line, corruption has become systemic like a cancer running rampant thru the lymphatic fluid of the nation, the river, streams, lakes and oceans. This is what the government was supposed to prevent. Instead, it manufactures weapons to kill more and more people so it can get more oil to make more weapons and deploy folks who can't see the human race for their family. So much easier to focus on just surviving every day, each distraction is something to savor and cling to like a life raft in a raging sea of unnecessary suffering. I surfed today in Ventura where just about 12 miles off the coast, on the ocean floor, lie barrels and barrels of nuclear waste that have been there for 50 years. So now, the nuclear waste is oozing out and will be contaminating the coast for the next couple thousand years. How did things get this way? Why am I surfing radioactive waves? How come our leaders are so awfully incompetent and weak? This is one reason why I think surfers should be paid. When some of us start coming down with radiation poisoning, well, we got some pretty concrete evidence, don't we? Canaries in the coal mine. Some think that the survivors will be living underground after the inevitable destruction of civilization. I am optimistic and believe that we will find ways to clean up the messes of our shortsighted, corrupt, greedy and gluttonous leadership. They will do everything they can to destroy the world just as they try to destroy themselves, their souls. They suffer more than they can or will admit. They hide it with lies, insults, grimace grins, food, sex, death. But some of us see thru to the core of their being which cries and cries. Find a way to forgive your self.
